Lately we've used this blog to provide our readers with information about Huntington Beach real estate and surrounding community information. This month we'd like to switch gears a bit and take a more serious approach to our blog. We'd like to talk a bit about property taxes and provide some information that will help homeowners approach these taxes prepared and informed.
Homeowners especially those who've recently purchased a their first home would do well to know the due dates of the payments. Luckily the government is generous to allow homeowners to pay their property taxes in installments. Additionally there is a short grace period which can be used when needed without penalty. The following is a list of installment due dates which homeowners will want to keep handy:
- December 10th, 2008
- April 10th, 2009
If a homeowner believes their property taxes to be to high they can consult with a tax assessor and possibly lower their rate. Though there is no guarantee of a lower rate it may be worth speaking with someone if for no other reason than to ensure you're not paying more than you should.
Homeowners should make every effort to pay their property taxes on time. Those who pay late will incur late fees totaling hundreds of dollars. It's enough to pay taxes, take care to avoid late fees. The subject of property taxes can be a confusing one. Should you have any questions about them please contact us so that might assist you.
